Topic Subject: TWH Shogun 2 Tournament

Hey folks,

I was wondering if you guys had given any thought to having HG host a Shogun 2 tournament? In an optimistic view of things, HG main might be able to throw a little cash as a prize. Something like $100 or $50 for the winners, and small amounts for 2nd and 3rd. You could do a 1-5 star division and a 5-10 star division (with lower ranked players welcome to play in the higher leagues if they want). You could easily advertise and promote it at Total War Center and the main Total war Forums. It would draw a lot of attention our way, and you could sell the idea to HG main by saying that the increase in visitors might pay for the cost of the prize money in the long run.

I'd be happy to host and organize the tournament if you would like, and I'd say that doing it in mid May is probably the best timing.

Anyway, what do you think of this as an idea? This sort of thing needs to be done before the game's popularity wanes too much, and a game with a terrible multiplayer rating system leaves a big gap for an organized tournament to fill easily. I guess you could see if Hoyin or Sergio think it would be a good idea and move from there.

Well, I very much doubt there would be money involved if we did do it. But a tournament wouldn't be too bad and I would very much like it.

I also doubt we could advertise it on other forums, especially not TWC. Since we are kind of rivals.

I also doubt there would be money involved, at least in the form of cash/check. There are issues with sending money internationally that no one likes to deal with. However, they could probably offer gift cards to Best Buy, Amazon, or something like that.

I do think that a tournament is a good idea and could draw some new forummers. Besides, it would be fun!

Maybe. But we used to do cash prizes for things tournaments pretty often back in the old days for AoM Heaven, Aoe3H, and RTWH. Though, I do seem to remember us transitioning to Amazon digital gift cards once it became troublesome. We could also use the old Heavengames t-shirts! Hah, I bet we've got a ton of those laying around.

I'm starting to think we need something like this to give the site a little kick-start...

Never fear progress is being made, but what would a tournament be without something to fight over. Lining up some loot for the victor(s).

Yes, we are working on it, but we want to prepare it well so that takes time.
