That's ridiculous. For me it's the Asai clan; the Oda get wiped out easily. The Ikko-Ikki are often wiped out eventually.

im playing as the Mori now... in my campaign, my allies, the kikkawa have about 8 regions. the major clans are Mori(me), Kikkawa(allies), the Hattori, and Uesegi, also my allies. most of the others nations are destroy, except a few, but they only hold average of 1-2 regions.

actually the more i play, it changes... the hattori usually have some staying power. the takeda have also been doing very well in some of my campaigns. and the hojo have sprung up to hold 14 regions in one campaign.

Actually yeah I've seen the Ikko Ikki become huge quite often, the times when they don't is when I'm playing a clan quite close to them =P

The Ikko were my biggest adversary in my Shimazu campaign so far. Only by having a good alliance with the Mori and pushing them at two angles were they driven back. They are almost down to nothing by 1572, but it took a lot of good fighting to get them there.

Interesting how it plays out, it makes it more unpredictable. Here's my 2 cents worth.
Im new at Shogun2 and am playing my 1st campaign with the Shimazu this week.
I took out the Ito fairly quickly and the Sagara have been at peace then were taken out by the Mori and its the Mori that have been my sole bitter enemies through most of the campaign, pressing me relentlessly until the Hoto eliminated them.
The Mori have taught me defense and my troops gained much experience fighting them but I was never able to take over the entire island of Kyushu
Now the Hoto who have up till now been peaceful have declared war and have pushed me back to two my two remaining provinces, Satsuma and Osumi and have yet to root me out, but Hoto has claimed the Shogunate and their Power is "Terrible" I fear the end is near even though my power is "Strong" lol,
My economy does not support expansion and holding onto these two provinces is all I can do. I don't have any resources, stone, iron or wood, and cannot upgrade to the upper tiers.
Time is running out and I figured what the hell, and boldly started pushing back trying to claim all of Kyushu before the end, hoping to find resources but its leaving Satsuma and Osumi well nigh undefended.
I will restart the campaign now that I have more experience with the mechanics. I played Rome TW and Mediaval TW2 and its obvious I will have to rethink my tactics.
I love the Arts tree. Its great for deciding your clan's destiny.
