True, I'll have to check through the alliances.
I started an all new Chosokabe last night, took over all of Shikoku and then landed my Samurai army onto the mainland due east of Shikoku and took out the Hatakeyama settlement there... strange place for them to have a town since the rest of their lands are up north.
But now that you mention it, it seems I've put myself in the heart of trouble by starting to conquer to close to Kyoto... hmm

I like the idea. Should I abandon my settlement on Honshu? Or should I just keep a small Ashigaru defense force there and move my professional army to Kyushu?

I actually restarted my Chosokabe campaign because the first one I was just learning the ropes.
I have conquered all of the provinces on Shikoku and I just knocked out the Ito Clan (Shimazu were already defeated).
The Sagara still have their starting province, and the Ouchi own the northernmost part of the island.
This is where I am now running into problems.
I am allies with the Ouchi and the Matsuda (the Ouchi were not on Kyushu at the time).
The Ouchi are allied with the Sagara and the Matsuda (Matsuda are very strong in my game, the Mori are no more)
I am determined to own all of Kyushu. As such I am turning my two towns located closest to the Sagara and Ouchi lands into Fortresses so I can recruit large professional armies quickly in order to fight a two front war with the Sagara and Ouchi.
My biggest problem is finding a way to not draw the Matsuda into a war with me.

I paid the Matsuda 2000 to break their alliance with the Ouchi and have proceeded to conquer all of Kyushu other than the northernmost province. Waiting for the rest of my second army to come together so I can spearhead into the mainland. Both provinces for the Ouchi over the land bridge boast full stack armies...
Gonna be fun.

When I was chobesake (sorry for wrong spelling) I decided to go to the mainland. When i moved and had a few villages there my ally who had half of Japan betrayed me and soon they wiped out all my villages in the mainland so I decided to take out there back were the Shimazi used to be. It was a good decision and killed them all.
