I've always disliked the barbarian factions, I found the warcry hard to time, chariots are weak and pointless and archers as their only good point. But recently I stumbled upon the German campaign and I've changed my views. They have a remarkable army. And here it is.
I took the same tactics as I would with the civilized factions, build up a power base then blitz through before economies and armies can recover. As Germania my economy was doing rather well at the start and with a decent garrison, hopefully enough to take down Britain by turn 25.

After moving some of my starting troops along with a general I headed for my first occupation, the Britain town of Alesia.

The battle looked pretty even in terms of numbers and quality of troops thanks to my new supplements of mercenaries, but the Britain army had the disadvantage of waiting for reinforcement. As I result in order to effectively cut off half of the Britain army I attacked the left side first as quick as I can.

The cavalry lingered while the warbands went for my center, my weakest mercenaries. I expected this and sent my spear warband and the other unit of mercs round both flanks along with some cavalry.

The Britain army swiftly routed, having to fight on all fronts.
The second British army stepped up for a battle, this one consisted of a cavalry warlord and two units of high experienced warbands. After foolishly losing my general from the enemy charge I again enveloped the warbands.

Although a great victory it had come at the cost of 60 of my best cavarly (warlord). If I continued with a few more of these then I would be crushed by Britain.

Also as a result I gained my first site of great battle

My economy was still performing excellently at this point, something which I would lose later.

Though I had seized British I needed time to build up my army in Alesia. Lacking a general was crippling to my soldiers, needing to garrison as well as go on and attack. As a result I sent my diplomat to secure a deal with Britain for a temporal peace at the cost of 3000 denarii.

They turned it down
Luckily on the same turn I secured my eastern front with a trade rights from Dacia, hopefully leading to an alliance later on.

A few turns later...
I moved all my troops from most of my cities to Alesia, I needed to blitz Britain before they reacted and seized my lands. This was the amazing result of a good amount of money for mercs and abandoning my lands.

2700 odd troops ready for combat was more than enough to secure Samorobrivia, with only a small garrison to defend it. Leaving behind 4 units of my mercs I headed to meet them head on and drive the Britains off continental Europe.

A simple battle as reinforcements never showed and chariots were easily overcome by hordes of cavarly.

Another victory. allowing me to move on the the town itself.
After building a ram I sieged it with only 2 chariots and a warband to defend against the vast attack.
Can't blame them for being naive.

A very easy battle, chariots were rendered useless by spears and warband were totally inferior.

My final move for now was to attack Lovosiec (Dacia) after they refused my alliance, I had enough troops in the east to hold them. The battle was quite trivial, a large army facing some depleted warbands. The result was another settlement for Germania
