Here we have the tale of the Kingdom of the Dwarves -- the naugrim in the Sindarin tongue -- in the Third Age, under Dain II. The machinations of Sauron the Deceiver have proven mostly ineffective to corrupt the children of Aule, for the naugrim do not easily succumb to the domination of another. They are an independent people who content themselves seeking the deep places of Middle-Earth and the minerals hidden there. They have maintained an alliance with the men of the Dale to the south and a friendship with the Sylvan Elves to the west. However, the orcs, servants of Sauron, have divided the Kingdom of the Dwarves. The naugrim are quick to anger and frightening in battle. Their goal is to obliterate the orcs and recapture their mountains.
