Up on the high, pointy peaks of the Middle East were a marvellous spectacle. A high 40ft wall, built out of pure Granite and it shone like a shiny key. It was not longer than the Great Wall of China but had ten times to quality. It had 50ft Ballista towers that blasted away the enemy from huge distances, boiling oil every ten metres and enough room to support one million Soldiers. Very few ventured past these protective walls and those who did were part of the empire that lay beyond¡. The great and bountiful Parthian empire.
King Nubunaga of Parthia, builder of those protective walls stood proud over the guests. All the major generals and lords had been invited to these magnificent celebrations. Nubunaga had a reason to celebrate. His mortal enemies were completely annialated.
¡°Friends, Lords and my loyal generals. Today is a fine day. Our mortal enemies, the Hateful Indians are destroyed. Our Cataphracts rule from India to the western mountains of the Middle East!¡± said Nubunaga. ¡°Only we the mighty Parthians know how the desert brings life¡ and ends them!¡±
A great cheer arose and as the night passed, the men feasted and drank, and slept. In the morning however, the mood was different. The proud and worthy king sat in his throne and was dreaming of victory when a messenger brought him terrifying news.
¡°My liege, a huge roman army is at the foot of our mountains. They have over 30,000 footman and 6,000 horsemen and scouts report that the Armenians, who have been pestering us for years are helping them,¡± panted the runner.
¡°Who are the Romans?¡± asked Nubunaga anxiously. He thought that no empire was bigger than his but he was now about to be proven wrong.
¡°Sir, they are a civilisation in the west that have dominated the entire Mediterranean. Even our trusty allies, the Syrians have been defeated by them.¡± This was a fatal blow to Nubunaga. All the morale and support he had the night before was gone.
¡°Get 2000 Cataphracts and as many Parthian horse archers you can muster. Meet in Artharqua in three days!¡± the king ordered. With that, he grabbed his loyal steed, Bloymethogras and rode off to Budrog to muster soldiers. By the end of the night he arrived at Artharqua with 3000 Parthian horsemen.
On the second day 10,000 Parthian horseman under General Pudolich of Baghdad arrived at Artharqua. The king was disappointed. ¡°10, 000,¡± he cried. ¡°I hoped for double that number, but anyway every man means something.¡± On the last day the runner he sent returned with the promised 2,000 Cataphracts and 13,000 Parthian horse archers.
That night the generals and the king discussed tactics and a main plan. ¡°Sir, I do not think we should meet such a number head on, although we outnumber their cavalry 4-1 the heavy infantry will prove to be a threat. From what I heard, the Roman Infantry have shields the size of their entire body and steel armour as thick as Rock!¡± said a General.
¡°I agree we need to think of something more chanceful.¡±
They spent the rest of the night thinking up a plan. Eventually they agreed on luring the Romans into a trap by a few volunteers. Then Weakening and killing them with arrows and finally obliterate them with Cataphracts.
In the morning the volunteers left and Nubunaga formed his troops in a sandy desert.
