The unit scale is on Huge to make the battles a LOT more realistic. I started not at the beginning of the campaign but a couple turns ahead. I will keep editing this post to enter my next victories, or things I feel are important to the story. I'm going to post a couple SS's of each battle after I figure it out. Peace.
Chapter IThe Summer of 262 B.C. - Outskirts / Town of ThermonHere, I lay, in a master's tent alone without a care on this flat piece of land. Earlier in the day, thousands of Greek deaths before the sun decreased I fought one of my most glorious battles. It wasn't a test of courage, will, honour, valour, strength.. No, none of that. It was too easy. For me it was another town looted and nearly exterminated, but to my soldier's it's now beared as a famous battle site, won under the command of the great, Tiberius Brutus. Damn, I speak of myself in a God's regulation. Perhaps that is what I am, to myself, yet more so to the soldiers under my graceful and elegeant command. My skin is sagging and my eyes grow weary each second of the day, but I fight back the pain and sadness so that my men do not grow discouraged if I am lost to battle, or the Gods. Sixty years of age does take it's effects if you've seen your fair share of battles, but there's not much that I can complain about. After I establish this settlement, I plan on -- "Sir, the men are wondering if you will ever find your way to the town centre.""Ahh, good soldier, rest assure that somehow my body will linger to join you men celebrating your victory. All soldiers are fitted properly, correct?"
"'Tis just that, sire."
"Very good, Trion. I suspect that you yourself aren't soaking too much in this easy victory?""Sir, I've served under you the best 30 years of my life, I know what a real victory is. I can separate a victory from a push-over skirmish."
Snicker. "Good, Trion, very gooood. Perhaps I shall venture towards the boozing area with you?""Of course sire.""Now, let us go."
The Summer of 262 B.C. - Town Centre, Thermon
I made my way through the lot of soldiers to face over a thousand of the most brave warriors you could stumble upon. Wether they be mercenary hoplites or legionaires, each one was entitled to his afterworld riches. As a general, you learn not to trust your soldiers too much, but don't treat them like peasents. Treat them like you would your least favorite relative, and that will keep their emotions occupied."Men.. The victory we've seen here today is nothing to swim in lust about; it's also nothing to be able to tell an experienced veteran.. What it was, and still is resembles the very face of a cold blade. You won this battle; You needn't the words of a general to be able to tell you that. Truthfully, I've never fought alongside soldiers nearly as cunning, and brave as all of you are. Tomorrow we set out on a campaign to conquer the Greeks.. I adore every aspect of Greek philosophy.. I've read the scrolls of Aristotle, Plato, Socrates.. I've even pushed myself to a farther limit to study the wisdom of foreign. Sun Tzu, and his Art of War. Knowledge is everywhere! But even with my infinite knowledge of a battlefield, I'm no match for your valour. As I've said proudly, YOU WON THIS BATTLE!! YOU CRUSHED THE GREEK MILITARY FOR WHAT IT IS! They employ peasents in their army to produce large numbers that would only make the weak cower, but did it do anything you phase your courage? NO!! THOSE MEN ARE ALL DEAD, NOT A SINGLE SOUL REMAINS! THEY'VE ALL GONE TO JOIN THEIR ANCESTORS IN THE PITS OF HADE'S STOMACH.. AND WE'RE STILL HERE! The gods have surely watched out for us today, as we have for them spiritually. But it's not about that, it's about all of us, tonight, brave soldiers. As I've relayed to you earlier, Tomorrow we set out to Conquer the Greeks. Live up your victory tonight, soak in the blood of worthless greeks peasents, do what you wish with their woman, make them your body slaves. But as soon as the sun touches face of the Earth, we will personally ride with Fear, and escort it into our enemies hearts!!!"The roars of the soldiers was so loud that mine own ear cried out to me.. What a fine day to be a Roman.. Tomorrow we campaign, but tonight we flourish. Perhaps my next entry will be filled with perhaps a greater deed?[This message has been edited by Karma Everlasts (edited 11-16-2004 @ 03:51 PM).]
