Anyway, I just put Liam_the_Spartan into google, just to see what would come up, and a video apeared. I realised some guy had uploaded a multiplayer battle and I was the opponent!

It's pretty cool. I defeated 2 of his light cavalry with one of mine, somehow he defeated one of my Yari Samurai with a loan sword Ashigaru.

I lost, since youtubers do not upload their failures, my main problem was forgetting to take them off loose formation when I got to melee.

But still, pretty cool huh?

That is pretty cool Liam.

If he'd let you keep the sword dojo, I'd have risked an uphill assault in your position, but I can be recklessly aggressive at times. I might even have risked the assault when I saw him move his general out of position, trying to tie him up with the light cav, and forgo the archer dojo.

Your Yari Samurai lost to the Loan Sword Ashigaru because they received a downhill charge, and were unsupported. I think only warrior monks could've really stood up to that.

Oh, but what really hurt you wasn't so much the loose formation as it was receiving the charge without counter-charging. If you'd have counter charged his melee units, I don't think he would've routed you quite so easily, and you could've turned one of the flanks.

I did counter charge, but I was not fast enough to charge all of them, you may notice I started from the opposite flank to which he was filming, only the last 2-3 or so stayed still. And that was the flank I was losing at the end.

+ Rear cavalry charge, I lost the flank, which worsened my odds.

I did alright though. It was a close call, and I'm glad it wasn't one of my worst failures. Oh, and remember that while you are playing you are not always aware of everything going on.

I couldn't use my light cavalry as support, since I only had 7ish people left

I was planning on capturing the dojo while the archer fight went along, which is probably why he attacked.

Ah, I didn't see the start of your counter-charge. That was the only real significant advice I could give, since you did fight well and it was a close thing.

His archers were under trees, I've read they get a bonus there. So when your archers are in the open and opponents just under trees you have a bad position. When charging with cav in formation and you go for melee, get them out of formation, they will fight better in melee.

Yes, they were in the open, capturing the dojo, it would have been worth the casualties, which is why he had to attack.

As for the cavalry, I think you are wrong. The wedge formation increases damadge, including melee, The only problem with wedge is that it's hard to turn. And even if it was better, engaging the enemy then messing around with formation would just make me lose.

The only reason I lost the second cavalry charge was because I attacked a Yari Cavalry with Light Cav, and it was a close call too, proving the efectiveness of the wedge.

Anyway, I apreciate the tips and everything, but it would look totally diferent from my point of view. Obviously he wants to make it look like he fought really good.

About wedge and melee.

They might be wrong, but I take my cav out of wedge seconds after I charged them, works for me.

Well my way works for me. 1 unit still beat 2 units using it, and the other was an anti-cav so I would have lost either way.

Finally! Somebody that uploads their defeat videos! I hate the way most only upload their epic victories when they probably lose most of them.

I want to start uploading mine, how do you record them? Do you use the full version of Fraps?
