So Soulzityr and I played a friendly battle against eachother the other night and here is how it played out.

The map we played on was Lowlands, two opposite fields split up by a shallow river that is crossable at several locations. The control points were spread across the middle of the map.

This is how I set my army up. Two units of Matchlock Ashigaru, A unit of Bow Samurai. Behind them was 3 units of Yari Samurai and 3 units of Katana Samurai. My General sat at the rear. I also had four total units of Yari Cavalry, grouped in twos on each flank and deployed so that Soulzityr couldnt see them.

Soulzityr's force consisted of many Samurai bowmen, six units in total if I'm not mistaken. Behind these ranged units he deployed his Yari Samurai and Sword Ashigaru.

Soulzityr opted to split his force and capture the two control points either side of the central one at the river crossing. Here though, my Matchlock Ashigaru were under fire from his archers.

As my Matchlock Ashigaru routed and the second took casualties I was forced to launch my attack. Thanks to facing only one unit of light cavalry I made the most of my Yari Samurai and their 'Rapid Advance' ability to close the gap quickly. My Katana Samurai followed up the frontal assault but by now both of my Matchlock units had withdrawn and Soulzityr had managed to pull his archers back from the front line.

Once the battle had commenced I played my hand. The Yari Cavalry raced from their hiding place on the left flank and charged the two archery units that were capturing the control point that might have turned the tide of battle.

Soulzityr's forces held their front line very well. To my surprise the Katana Samurai were actually losing the combat. I raced my now exposed cavalry up the left flank but Soulzityr was prepared to meet them with Yari Samurai. I could not attack yet, instead I tried to use the threat of a charge to force him to keep those Samurai there rather than in the melee.

Soulzityr's forces had now captured the right-most control point and he raced these units into battle on that flank, quickly causing my Katana Samurai to begin wavering. The combat was now focused in two lumps after some of his units routed from the centre.

He clearly had the upper hand still however, so I raced my last two units of Cavalry from their hiding place to threaten his right flank.

Soulzityr committed his archers to the battle also, trying to gain an advantage over my battered and tired Yari Samurai and last remaining Katana Samurai unit.

The battle was now very close, all of my infantry were teetering close to breaking point and only the relentless charging of my drastically reduced cavalry finally broke the morale of Souzityr's remaining Bow and Yari Samurai.

It was a very fun battle, quite tense too. I look forward to facing him on the battlefield another time for a rematch

Haha yes, it was indeed intense. You're giving me a lot more credit than I deserve in the battle though. Also, I sent one unit of Bow Ashigaru to the left to the capture the control point. I did that force the calvary out because your army seemed less than the supposed count and most people hide something in the forests anyways. I basically hoped to slow down your calvary by dealing with my archers while trying to defeat your main line first. But the right flank calvary caught me completely by surprise. That flank attack definitely outmaneuvered my army and threw it into your favor. Overall I thought it was a great tactic. A rematch will definitely be fun But I don't think I'll use as many archers next time around!

Ah, I had not expected you to assume I had units hidden away. Good job I decided to stagger my attacks on each flank then!

Tom Bear and I had a pretty epic 2v2 match last night against some other clan, but the ending left something to be desired. The battle probably took 30-40 minutes and our armies never met on the field. Hell of a lot of skirmishing between cavalry and bow units and after a lot of feints with other units we finally outflanked them with a few Yari Cavalry and managed to defeat their general, Fire Rockets, and Catapults. Right after that they alt-F4 quit. So even though the main bodies of our armies never met, the time, patience, and maneuvering made it a pretty epic match in my opinion.

I am still shamed from my last mistake...

Steam has a built-in screenshot taker. Simply press F12 in game and that's it! Screenshot saved! It will be transfered into your screenshot collection.
Then if you want to paste it on the forums it's a bit trickier. There are 2 options. One is to go on steam and post it on the forums, in a link.

But the ones off steam are huge. So if you want them like Afty's, make a photobucket account. Then easily save the screenshots from steam onto your computer and upload to phtobucket. You can edit the size on either photobucket or on your computer, whichever suits you.

Press "Edit post" on Afty's comment if you want to see what it should look like.

Or something like that, anyway

Photobucket is definitely my favourite way of posting screenshots, its quick and easy. Plus you can post a thumbnail image and link that to the larger one like I did above. Steam screenshots all come in one large size.

So that's how you do it! I just went to Edit your post to see how to create links to the bigger form.
