It was a rainy school day today
The brisk feverish weather
Has been a dull sight all together
Our pride stems from the thundering rains
That resembles the monsoon rains
Of that faraway rich land
So called for its mysteriousness.. India.

Like a mighty battle begins
The fiery storms huffed and puffed
Until they could huff and puff no more
Spewing their love and anger at us
We truly have been naughty kids
The school has been flooded
Pools of water glitter our halls
Shall we not feel proud and mighty?
We have received the storms of love and devotion

Just this morning on my perilous way
To the safety of my ancient school's doorway
I happened to glance at a floating flat log
Heeding not a whit to the downpour
My curiosity has been aroused
Edging closer ever still I crept upon the strange flat wood
It looked like a drowning book
Shocked into oblivion
I snatched the book from the ground
A precious piece of art was dying.
Its drowning cries unheeded by any
Pages full of sweet bitter knowledge
Dare not anybody heed its faltering calls?
With gentleness unmatched
And swiftness unseen I coveted the precious art
In my sleeveless shirt
And promptly dashed to safety

No love or hate dare touch me now
Fondling the precious book
Drying it as best as I could
I raced up to the library
And was greeted by a small friendly pool
Hopping on the dry spots
I safely reached the far rim of the doorway we called dots

I was happy that day I was as snug as I can be
The mysterious rain all together forgotten
Until that is; school promptly ended.
Walking cautiously outside
I was shocked into a deep trembling silence

My five senses rudely kicked in
Smelling first the aftershave of the rain
And seeing the harmonizing branchless trees
Feeling the touch of new life
I tasted the freedom of freshness
To complete it all
The song of the birds hailed the beauty before them
Even they were astonished into happiness
Flabbergasted dutiful mouth hung wide open for all to see
Thoughtful as a brainiac bumblebee
I smelt freshness in the air
And walked down the dreary steps
Truly I was in a happy mood

Not long did it last though
For as soon as I stepped down from the last step
Into the cold concrete sidewalk of heaven
It began to rain

Well done!

I liked it, and with the weather we are currently enjoying, very appropriate as well.

I see Andalus will have some poetic competition.

A very nice poem, Khalid. I thoroughly enjoyed it...

Invincibility lies in defence, while the possibility of victory in the attack -Sun Tzu

I am not a fan of poetry by any means, except for a few Robert Frost pieces. But this was a good read, hope you post some more Khalid.

The Lonely Traveler
The lone traveler walks
Walking alone in the lonely road
Mist rising and hands flapping he talks
To keep his mind clear of the heavy load
He talks of the lonely man all alone on the lonely road

An ancient staff guiding his way
A ragged cloak his lantern in the night
Counting his steps as he silently says
"They said I must fight!
They told me they was right!
I do not know how to fight!
I do not know if they was right!
Run I did out of fright!
They said they would snuff out my lights!"

Broken jaws and loose hands
Scrawny shoulders and yellow teeth
The lone traveler walks in the misty lands
He follows in the sky the great white wreath
All the while muttering his misgivings
Which fall on deaf misty ears.

A beam of light shines through
The cloudy thick misty air
Seeing hope in the beaming light
The lonely traveler hurries down the lonely road
A warning must he heed
A deadly cliff awaits him ahead.

The Heart
A curious thing the human heart
Beating and bumping like a mechanical engine
It is the center of our being
Our lifeline in this world
Tender and caring like our motherly figure
Protective and strong like our fatherly figure
But something the heart is very ingenious at
Is that of the art of love...

To love somebody means to open your heart to them
Trusting that they wont shatter your lifeline in this world
Believing in their pureness to join each other's hearts and form....love
That lively faithful thing needs taking care of
Without it you simply wont exist
Shattering it will criple us
Make do note on who has this power over you
Finding love is less important than protecting against love
Yet in rare cases people deem love as more important
....I found one of those rare cases
Those rare golden cases
Even now my heart beats with much gusto
It knows better than I the jewel I have discovered
A jewel that erases the doubt of a shattered lifeline

With certantity I solemnly declare
I have opened the gates to my well guarded heart
A cherished ally has wed our two kingdoms together
A fellow ruler shall share the burden of ruling
To this magical machine we call our hearts..

The banners say all around
"If the sun and the moon were to come and beg for my love,
If the stars and planets gifted me gifts in hopes for my love,
I shall turn them away with graceful charity and friendship goodwill and love,
For I have given my heart to a little sweet angelic dove."

You certainly are prolific, Khalid!

Your imagery is very good, and the subjects varied. Some nice insights there, and emotions enough to overflow my goblet. Well done.

A tip, though,, if you want to receive praise for each one- post them individually with a few days in between. That gives people time to read and enjoy, and hopefully comment. Posting many in a single post gets your words out there, but leaves precious little in the way of praise to return.

I really like the Lonely Traveler and the Heart, but by the time I got to the one about the tree, I had forgotten the first two and had to go back and re-read them. That is another problem with posting many at once- the reader's mind focuses on what it is reading, then moves on to the next one so fast the first has no time to settle in and be thoroughly enjoyed. Your choice, of course, this is just friendly advice.
